So, apparently this guy Ramon Lopez-Vidal made a CG tutorial company called Binary Divinity awhile back, made a few courses, got the students' money, and ran away - leaving a lot of people with only a portion of the product they paid for. What an ass, right? Well, lucky for us we can steal his work instead of getting ripped off by him. This upload is his course "Renderman to the Maximum", and - honestly - it is really good. Without giving too much personal information away, let me tell you that I have taken graduate courses on Renderman, RSL and related subjects taught by people who are world-renowned Renderman and computer graphics experts. These video lessions are the only courses I have seen - out of Digital Tutors, FXPHD, etc - that comes anywhere close to the level of depth and information that I received through my (VERY EXPENSIVE) academic training. So, when I tell you that this set is a must have for anyone who wants to learn Renderman or the technical aspects of computer graphics, please believe me. Be warned: Ramon has a pretty annoying voice, and the visuals created in these videos are nothing pretty, but he does give a lot of information that is near impossible to find outside of expensive CG training. Even if you don't use Renderman, these videos will give you a lot of information on how computer graphics works as a whole. fxPHD MSV201 - Massive in Production

Geoff Tobin returns to take this follow up to the introductory MSV101 course. While the 100 level course gave an overview of the Massive software, this course will cover the pipeline and workflow for setting up a typical Massive shot. From planning the mocap sessions and importing and processing the motion through to designing the brains, running the sims and finally rendering with a Renderman compliant renderer. It will also cover advanced features such as dynamics and cloth as well as integration with other software such as Maya.
Massive is the artificial-life crowd simulation software developed for The Lord of the Rings trilogy and used on major motion pictures, TV shows and commercials.Tobin is a Lead Massive TD working at Weta Digital in Wellington, New Zealand. He started working in the industry in 1993 as an animator using SideFX Prisms, Alias PowerAnimator and Maya. Geoff has been working with Massive since 2000 and was nvolved with its early development in creating the crowd scenes for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He has since used Massive in motion pictures such as I-Robot, King Kong, X-Men 3, Eragon, Bridge to Terabithia and The Day the Earth stood still.
Notes:This is the 2nd tutorial about the Massive Prime software from fxPHD. It contains all 10 classes along with their tutorial files. If anyone also wants the first tutorial (MSV101) or the massive software itself then just say so.

Fxphd PFT301 Advanced PFTrack DVD - NoPE

We will do object tracking, putting a 3D car over an existing car shot and track it. The course will also cover tracking a face and then using the point cloud to help modeling the replacement face. The insanely complex Sarah Jane "bike shot" will be solved -- this is a shot that drove several fxphd professors crazy for almost a whole week. The VPN will use PFTrack 4.1 and how how to use objects to track shots that cannot be tracked with conventional methods, as well as how to use the new i/tech files from Cooke Lens with PFTrack.
