Communication Systems is as an introductory textbook, presenting Fourier transform, convolution, and definitions of autocorrelation and power spectral density. It also introduces concepts of probability, random variables, and stochastic processes and their applications to the analysis of linear systems. Innovatively, the text treats the modulation process using stochastic processes as well as covers amplitude modulation, quadrature modulation, angle modulation, mobile cellular systems, propagation channels and more. Quantization and coding of analog signals is also treated, as well as speech coding. Channel modeling, including channel characteristics and propagation, is covered with an emphasis on simple models. Transmission and reception of modulated carriers is included as well as the required transmitting and receiving equipment. Mobile communication is also covered and considers both analog and digital systems. The authors provide five appendices which cover topics such as Fourier series and transforms, Hilbert transform, important formulae, and cellular systems including CDMA and GSM standards. Many examples are provided as well as problems at the end of each chapter to allow the reader to practice his acquired knowledge.

Modulated Temperature Differential Scanning Calorimetry


MTDSC provides a step-change increase in the power of calorimetry to characterize virtually all polymer systems including curing systems, blends and semicrystalline polymers. It enables hidden transitions to be revealed, miscibility to be accurately assessed, and phases and interfaces in complex blends to be quantified. It also enables crystallinity in complex systems to be measured and provides new insights into melting behaviour. All of this is achieved by a simple modification of conventional DSC. In 1992 a new calorimetric technique was introduced that superimposed a small modulation on top of the conventional linear temperature program typically used in differential scanning calorimetry. This was combined with a method of data analysis that enabled the sample's response to the linear component of the temperature program to be separated from its response to the periodic component. In this way, for the first time, a signal equivalent to that of conventional DSC was obtained simultaneously with a measure of the sample's heat capacity from the modulation. The new information this provided sparked a revolution in scanning calorimetry by enabling new insights to be gained into almost all aspects of polymer characteristics. This book provides both a basic and advanced treatment of the theory of the technique followed by a detailed exposition of its application to reacting systems, blends and semicrystalline polymers by the leaders in all of these fields. It is an essential text for anybody interested in calorimetry or polymer characterization, especially if they have found that conventional DSC cannot help them with their problems.

I should start by saying that I am a member of the organisation that published the book so I might be a bit biased. That said I think that this book is one of the best introductions to Wireless Digital Communications ever written.
It is written to make sense to the person reading it, without the need of advanced maths. By using lots of diagrams and not too many formulas the author takes you on a journey showing you why certain things are the way they are.
If you are looking for a book telling all about various low level modulation techniques for data, this book will give you that grounding. Things such as PSK, FSK, OFDM, ASK, MSG, GMSK are all described in detail, in a way that makes understanding the encoding and decoding processed logical.
This book would make a good introduction to Wireless Digital Communications not only for a University level but even for just an enthusiest who wants to know how this stuff works.

Dance Music Production Fundamental 2 Bass TUTORiAL DVDR-SONiTUS


The DVD begins with an introductory course on some music theory, introducing the viewer to the theory behind scales and modes - a requirement for producing bass lines that work. The sessions then move on to cover the principles behind composition, programming, editing, tuning and processing of bass in order to add the all important groove to dance records.
