http://depositfiles.com/files/7joxdfk9t Paranoia in the "Normal" Population This book reviews the dimensional conceptualisation of persecutory delusion in the attempt to elucidate the transition from suspicious thinking to clinically relevant paranoia. For a better understanding of psychosis, a study of non-clinical population would prove useful: to this aim this chapter reviews some research works and proposed ideas. The book studies the epidemiological studies on psychotic features in the general population, and frames the findings in the dimensional and quasi-dimensional models of psychotic symptoms distribution. http://depositfiles.com/files/wh2sjotuo 3D Nanoelectronic Computer Architecture and Implementation It is becoming increasingly clear that the two-dimensional layout of devices on computer chips hinders the development of high-performance computer systems. Three-dimensional structures will be needed to provide the performance required to implement computationally intensive tasks. High Dynamic Range Imaging New material includes chapters on High Dynamic Range Video Encoding, High Dynamic Range Image Encoding, and High Dynammic Range Display Devices
Strong Interactions in Low Dimensions by D. Baeriswyl The physical properties of low-dimensional systems have fascinated researchers for a great part of the last century, and have recently become one of the primary centers of interest in condensed matter research. At the beginning, this field appeared much more like a playground for creative theorists than a serious domain of solid-state physics, but it has since been demonstrated that the low-dimensional world has its own richness, and that there are real materials which to a good approximation may be considered as consisting of uncoupled chains or planes. Quantum Gravity in 2+1 Dimensions This timely volume provides a broad survey of (2+1)-dimensional quantum gravity. It emphasises the 'quantum cosmology' of closed universes and the quantum mechanics of the (2+1)-dimensional black hole. It compares and contrasts a variety of approaches, and examines what they imply for a realistic theory of quantum gravity. General relativity in three spacetime dimensions has become a popular arena in which to explore the ramifications of quantum gravity. As a diffeomorphism-invariant theory of spacetime structure, this model shares many of the conceptual problems of realistic quantum gravity. But it is also simple enough that many programs of quantization can be carried out explicitly. After analysing the space of classical solutions, this book introduces some fifteen approaches to quantum gravity - from canonical quantization in York's 'extrinsic time' to Chern-Simons quantization, from the loop representation to covariant path integration to lattice methods. Relationships among quantizations are explored, as well as implications for such issues as topology change and the 'problem of time'. This book is an invaluable resource for all graduate students and researchers working in quantum gravity. http://depositfiles.com/files/7wjmeal58 Novel Approaches to Improving High Temperature Corrosion Resistance High-temperature corrosion is a major problem affecting sectors such as the power generation, aerospace and metal-working industries. This important book summarizes a wide range of research on ways of dealing with this important problem. The first part of the book reviews ways of modifying alloys to improve high-temperature corrosion resistance. The second part discusses surface treatments such as pre-treatments and coatings. The third part of the book summarizes research on testing for high-temperature corrosion resistance and the development of common testing standards. It also reviews research on the behavior of alloys in a wide range of service conditions such as furnace and boiler environments. The final part of the book discusses ways of modelling high-temperature corrosion processes to improve material performance and service life. Inverse Problems and High-Dimensional Estimation ...

This technology has been hugely successful in delivering more realistic television experience at home and accurate imaging for professional applications. Adoption of high definition continues to grow as consumers demand enhanced features and greater quality of content. Following this trend, natural evolution of visualisation technologies will be in the direction of fully realistic visual experience and highly precise imaging. However, using the content of even higher resolution and quality is not straightforward as such videos require significantly higher access bandwidth and more processing power. Therefore, methods for radical reduction of video bandwidth are crucial for realisation of high visual quality. Moreover, it is desirable to look into other ways of accessing visual content, solution to which lies in innovative schemes for content delivery and consumption. This book presents selected chapters covering technologies that will enable greater flexibility in video content representation and allow users to access content from any device and to interact with it.
Linear Algebra Done Right (2nd Edition) For example, the book presents--without having defined determinants--a clean proof that every linear operator on a finite- dimensional complex vector space (or an odd-dimensional real vector space) has an eigenvalue. A variety of interesting exercises in each chapter helps students understand and manipulate the objects of linear algebra. No prerequisites are assumed other than the usual demand for suitable mathematical maturity. Thus, the text starts by discussing vector spaces, linear independence, span, basis, and dimension. Students are introduced to inner-product spaces in the first half of the book and shortly thereafter to the finite-dimensional spectral theorem. This second edition includes a new section on orthogonal projections and minimization problems. The sections on self-adjoint operators, normal operators, and the spectral theorem have been rewritten. New examples and new exercises have been added, several proofs have been simplified, and hundreds of minor improvements have been made throughout the text.
